    3. i made some silly mistakes both in gs and csat but optimist that will qualify next time :) Can you just tell me whether hppsc is going to change the pattern of the exam from next year(similar to IAS)?

    4. Silly mistakes hurts badly,,, But....The pattern of Prelims won't change. HPPSC is likely to change its pattern of Mains exam from next time similar to UPSC, that's why they are conducting mains exams this year so early and they want to implement new pattern as soon as possible. I think they may conduct next HPAS Prelim in Early April or May.

    5. Hope they will change the pattern because iam also preparing fir ias (same pattern will benefit me)

  2. I belong to ST category of HP and i have cleared prelims. My expected score acco. to the key was 177.
Khadubhai, one query to you, since i'm preparing for UPSC too and my optional here is Pub Ad and being from management background i could have opted for Management as 2nd optional. But this is not allowed in HAS too, so which subject do you think would make for a better choice with Pub Ad considering that i hardly have a month to prepare for the subject. I do find Sociology somewhat interesting, but will it be possible to prepare that in just 1 month?

    1. I think Sociology is good, I also would have suggested Sociology, because sociology is the only subject that you can prepare effectively in such a short time. So go ahead with Sociology. Another reason is that I too have Sociology :). That Orange book is really useful... For booklist Mail me.

  8. I could not clear as my score (first attempt without any preparation ) was around 120-125..I later calculated and found that I could have scored 160 if I had done better time management as i spent time on few questions unnecessarily.
I would like to get your feedback whether I should go for another attempt next year or not (General category candidate working as software engineer). My mathematics is perfect (i answered all Maths questions correctly.)
Also, can you provide information like what willl be the change in exam format next year as it is going to help me to make a decision.

    1. Why Not buddy ? You must prepare seriously.. U yourself said you could have scored more, so chances for the improvements are always there. As you said you are Good in maths and reasoning so you must work on GS and HP GK too. Aptitude is quite easy for you so you will have better chances over others you need to improve your GS part.

Prelims pattern will not change it will remain same while Mains pattern may Change so in that case GS will be more important.

    1. Keep Doing Good work in Paper 2 and I will suggest you to work on GS Part because from next year mains pattern is likely to change and GS will hold the Key. So try to work on GS, i have mentioned the important books for GS, strictly follow them or buy a GS manual, GS is going to be more important. HP GK is not that much big problem. Wonderland Himachal is out of stock and out of print so Go for the alternative book Mian Govardhan Singh's Book, it is equally good and will fulfill the purpose.
