HPPSC Shimla has invited online application for the recruitment of 50 Forest Range Officers on contract basis. Interested candidates can apply online on HPPSC website on or before 11th April,2017 till 11:59 PM IST.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit 

Candidates those who are interested to apply for the post of Forest Range officer , there age should be between 21 to 31 years.
Maximum age for Candidates who are in government services and appointed on adhoc or on contract basis.

Education Qualification
Candidates must be graduate in Science OR Engineering from a recognized institution or University. Candidates should be graduate in one of these given subjects.

- Engineering (Agriculture/ Chemical/ Civil/ Computer/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Mechanical)

Pay Scale

Rs. 10300 – 34500/- + 4800 Grade pay.
Contractual Salary : 15100/- Per Month

There will be four papers ,two are compulsory and two is from optional.

General English
- Knowledge of English Grammar
- Idiom and usages
- Passages for Summary or Precis - 20 marks.
- Essay on current topics on State, National, International events - 30 marks.
- Other topics from English Grammar - 50 marks.

Optional subjects (Have to choose 2 optional out of these)
Agriculture, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Applications/Computer Science, Agriculture Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science, Forestry, Geology, Horticulture, 
Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Veterinary Science & Zoology. Candidates  are required to offer two of the above subjects.

But

- The  standard  of  examination  in  these  optional  subjects  will  be  that of Bachelor’s degree.

- No candidate shall be allowed to take more than one subject from the following:-

(i)  Agriculture, Agriculture Engineering and Veterinary Science

(ii)  Chemistry and Chemical Engineering

(iii)  Computer  Applications  /  Computer  Science  &  Computer Engineering.

(iv)  Electrical Engineering and Electronics Engineering.

(v)  Mathematics and Statistics.

Books For HP Forest Range Officer Exam 2017

General Knowledge

- Indian Politics & Constitution of India - M. Laxmikanth - No other book is required for this section because book is a full package itself.

- History of India -  This section is Huge one and because they have not mentioned particularly that which section to prepare. So we have to prepare all the three main section of Ancient History, Medieval History and Modern History.
- Ancient History - R. S. Sharma ( this is Old NCERT undoubtabley best and brief book to study this section)
- Medieval History - Satish Chandra (another Old NCERT very brief and best)
- Modern History - Brief Modern History - Rajiv Ahir ( very brief and one of the best selling book, very useful one)

- Geography of Nature Means Environment, Biodiversity & Basic Geology - Environment by ShankarIAS (this is one very best and brief book and covers almost whole syllabus) Or Environment Studies by Rajagopalan (Very useful)

These are strictly according to syllabus but if you don't want to read all these and want some very brief and one in all type book for GK then Tata Macgraw Hill GS manual is also very good :

1. TMH General Studies/Knowledge Manual - English Medium ( All in one with Very Good Quality)
2. TMH Samanaya Adhayan/ Gyan Manual - Hindi Medium

And if you want More brief then Choose either Lucent GK or Arihant GK

1. Lucent GK - English (Book is amazing brief and accurate)

1. General English by S. P. Bakshi ( its very very Good book almost every topic is given very good)
2. General English by Lucent ( this is also very good book with a lot of depth)

Optional Subject

- The  standard  of  examination  in  these  optional  subjects  will  be  that  of Bachelor’s degree.
